Welcome,

Welcome to my website Dronenthousiast.  (translated, drone enthusiast)

To make my website more accessible to a global audience I have chosen to present my website in English.

About me,

Hello, I am Paul and I live in the Netherlands.

Besides being a drone enthusiast, I am also a "fixed wing" RC pilot and I enjoy making aerial videos and aerial photography.

For several decades I have been active in flying radio controlled model aircraft.

Because I take model flying very seriously I have been a loyal member of a model flying club Pegasus in Enkhuizen for many years, and still am.

Check it out at; https://www.mvcpegasus.nl/

I am active as a RC pilot, and being an instructor and examiner for engine powered airplanes as well (electric and combustion engines).

I have all the necessary licenses to be able to use drones in our airspace, of course within the statutory provisions!

Around 2012 I became more interested in multicopters, often called "drones" by the public.

At first I was building drones myself as model flyers often do, building aircrafts themselves.

The so-called frame kit drones, such as the famous DJI flamewheel F550 (hexacopter) and the S500 (quadcopter) are models that I started with.

But also 250 class racing drones and exotic drones like tricopters are part of my collection.

All were executed with a (GoPro) camera and 5.8Ghz. video transmitter system so that the camera images can be viewed via an LCD screen or goggles.

DJI Drones,

Because the technical development of drones is so fast, and the possibilities seem endless I decided to purchase a professional "ready-made" Drone.

The choice had fallen on the DJI Mavic Pro. A small foldable drone that is equipped with many technical features.

Soon a second Mavic Pro was purchased for my daughter who also had shown her interest in Drones.

Meanwhile the DJI family has expanded with the DJI Inspire 1 V2 and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro,the DJI Mavic 2 PRO, and recently (november 2020) I purchased the DJI Mini2.

The Mini2 is a ultra light 4K camera drone (248 grams!) with almost the full potential of its bigger brothers.

Because of its small size and weight the Mini2 is authorized to fly in places where other (larger and heavier) drones may not be used. This offers incredible opportunities!

Photography en video,

Originally I am not a photographer or filmmaker. But the possibilities offered by modern drones and modern cameras have drawn my attention to (aerial) video and photography. But I also see great opportunities for industrial purposes!

All of my drones are capable of shooting video at a very high (4K) resolution and a framerate up to 60 fps,  and photo's up to 20 megapixels (Phantom 4 pro and Mavic 2 Pro). The Mavic 2 Pro is even equipped with a true Hasselblad camera.

With the help of DJI drones and a video editing program the possibilities of  aerial video and photography seem endless.

To me the sky is not the limit!!
